Dan and Celia Roberts are celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary in a picturesque seaside village, when they discover an unusual doll in an antiques shop. The shop owner warns them that the doll seems to bring "great adventures" to the one who owns her. The Roberts scoff at the superstition, but it's not long before strange things start to happen.

Eddie gives his assistant, Susie, her first case to work on alone. It's an odd one; a dress shop has been broken into several times, but nothing seems to have been stolen. Meanwhile, Eddie gets a case of his own - more break-ins, this time in an office building that houses several important agents and attorneys. Only office supplies have been stolen so far, but threats of worse have been left with each victim. It all seems trivial until someone dies under very mysterious circumstances. A very odd clue- gardenias - link the two cases, and Eddie and Susie discover a sinister motive nestled in the petals.
